As the excitement builds for the T20I series between India and Bangladesh, starting October 6, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav has officially named his opening pair for the three-match leg.
Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson will take on the responsibility of opening the innings for the Men in Blue. This decision comes as part of a fresh approach by the Indian team, which features a mix of established players and newcomers.
In a press briefing ahead of the first T20I, Suryakumar expressed confidence in his chosen openers. “Sanju Samson will play and open the batting in this series going forward with Abhishek Sharma,” he stated during the pre-match press conference in Gwalior. This marks a significant moment for both players, particularly for Samson, who has been working hard to establish himself in the national setup.

The squad also features three uncapped players – Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana and Mayank Yadav – who are all looking to make their mark on this international stage. Their inclusion reflects India’s strategy of nurturing young talent while maintaining a competitive edge.
The series opener is scheduled to take place at Gwalior’s New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium, where all eyes will be on Samson as he takes on the challenge of the new role for Team India.
