The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 season has been filled with exciting matches, and the 19th match between the Trinbago Knight Riders and Guyana Amazon Warriors was no exception. The match, played at the Queens Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad, saw the Knight Riders emerge victorious in a nail-biting encounter.

Romario Shepherd and Dwaine Pretorius rescue warriors’ innings

The Amazon Warriors, after being put in to bat first by Kieron Pollard, the Trinbago Knight Riders’ skipper, found themselves in early trouble. They lost wickets in quick succession and struggled to gain momentum, finding themselves at 76/7 in the 12th over. However, Romario Shepherd and Dwaine Pretorius stepped up to rescue their team, stitching together an unbeaten partnership of 72 runs. Shepherd was the aggressor, scoring a quickfire 51* off just 24 deliveries, while Pretorius contributed a solid 21* off 25 balls. Their efforts helped the Amazon Warriors post a respectable total of 148 at the end of their 20 overs.

Shaqkere Parris hits longest six of the season

The Knight Riders, chasing a moderate target, needed a good start from their openers, Sunil Narine and Shaqkere Parris. Narine got off to a flying start, hitting a four and a six in the first over, but was soon dismissed by Moeen Ali.

In the third over, Parris unleashed a monstrous six that sailed over the stadium’s roofs. The ball travelled an astonishing 124 meters, setting a new record for the longest six of the tournament. However, despite his promising start, Parris couldn’t convert it into a big knock and was dismissed in the ninth over by the CPL debutant Sowter.
