World No. 10 Ons Jabeur of Tunisia announced Monday that she will not participate in the Paris Olympics this summer.

Jabeur cited guarding against injury as the biggest factor in her decision.

"After consulting with my medical team regarding attending the Olympics in Paris, we have decided that the quick change of surface and the body's adaptation required would put my knee at risk and jeopardize the rest of my season," Jabeur posted on social media. "Unfortunately, I will not be able to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

"I have always loved representing my country in any competition. However, I must listen to my body and follow my medical team's advice."

Jabeur, 29, is a three-time Olympian but has never won a medal.

Jabeur has won five WTA titles and has been a grand slam finalist three times. She lost in the Wimbledon final each of the past two years and also in the 2022 U.S. Open final.

Her highest career ranking is No. 2 in 2022.

Earlier Monday, No. 3 Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus also announced she was skipping the Olympics. Sabalenka cited health reasons.

Olympics tennis events will be held from July 27 to Aug. 4 at Roland Garros in Paris, the same site as the French Open.
